​Introduction
The Municipality of Edolo hosts a public stadium located in Via Alessandro Morino, available to athletes, sports groups, and nearby schools. This sports center was recently redeveloped in 2021/2022 and now includes a new football pitch, basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court, and athletics track.
The municipal administration’s goal is to promote an educational and sporting project for the town’s youth. The proposal focuses on the northern side of the facility, where a new volume with raised and sheltered grandstands will be installed on top of the existing steps, which are currently inadequate for a proper view of the playing field.

Needs and Functionality
The project responds to the need to provide spectators with an appropriate space, protected from weather and sun exposure. The covered grandstand has been designed to enhance the audience’s experience during sporting events, ensuring an optimal view of the field.

Architectural Features
From an architectural perspective, the linear building extends for about 20 meters and is connected to both the sports center and the adjacent school through a driveway accessible from Via Alessandro Morino. The structure is supported by four reinforced concrete walls, 7 to 8 meters high, defining three spans of 6 meters each.

Accessibility and Distribution
The grandstand is accessible via two staircases at its ends, leading to a walkway. From here, spectators can spread across the grandstands, which are arranged on three different levels and reached through two central rows of steps.

Structure and Roof
The supporting walls extend all the way up to the roof, which rests on them and projects outward as a cantilever. The roof itself is a hybrid structure made of steel beams and wooden joists.

Conclusion
This redevelopment project for the municipal sports center of Edolo not only improves the existing facilities but also provides a safe and comfortable environment for spectators, while actively promoting sports and education among the local youth community.
